CFC Supports SB 797 (Pavley) - Banning Toxics in Childrens Products - KILLED
by Consumer Federation of California
SB 797 would remove the toxic chemical bisphenol A (BPA) from baby bottles, sippy cups, and infant formula cans - specifically those designed for children three years or younger.
CFC Sponsored Bill AB 7 (Huffman) - High School Baseball Safety Act
AB 7 places a one year moratorium on non-wooden baseball bats during any activities conducted at a private or public high school.
CFC Supports SB 1212 (Leno) - Cell Phone Radiation Disclosures
SB 12122 would require retailers of cell phones to make the level of radiation emitted by a phone known to potential purchasers of that phone.
CFC Supports AB 2720 (Perez) - Food Access
AB 2720 would require the Dep. of Food and Agriculture provide recommendations to the Legislature to promote food justice.

AB 1512 would prohibit a retailer from selling infant formula or baby food after the printed "use by" date that is required under federal law. This bill also prohibits retailers from selling over the counter drugs after the printed expiration date that is required under federal law.

California leads radiation dose regulation efforts

The bill, SB 1237, would require hospitals and clinics to record radiation dose of CT scans. The bill would also require CT services to be accredited by an organization approved by CMS and calls for facilities to report any overdose to the patient, treating physician, and California Department of Public Health.

Last year, a bill that would've outlawed selling expired baby food and formula in California passed the state Legislature, but it was vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who argued that current laws were sufficient. Holober said the amount of expired food and formula that the I-Team found for sale shows that the current law is not sufficient.
